Words of Advice for Those Wishing to Start a Start-Up

by Daniel Gloade on June 27, 2016

There was an interesting article in the Record last month. It was called: “Serial entrepreneur questions Waterloo Region’s startup culture”.     You can find it here.

It offers sobering advice for those wishing to engage in tech start-ups.    In essence its:

  1. Make sure there is a market for your product;
  2. Build a good team
  3. The Technology

The entrepreneur in the title, Mike Janzen, had a very successful start-up in Kitchener-Waterloo.  He is very familiar with our city’s attempts to create a technology hub.  Mr. Janzen recommends, however, that you get experience working for a larger company before doing it yourself.  You get valuable experience, network talent and also build up capital.
